Until then, the nearest schools are in West Belconnen, including Macgregor Primary School (Preschool to Year 6), Kingsford Smith School (a public Preschool to Year 10 facility) and Hawker College (Kindergarten to Year 12). 

Leisure, Eating & Shopping in Strathnairn

In 2024 alone, over 10 kilometres of walking trails were created, including access to the Murrumbidgee River and lookout locations, as well as the opportunity to walk across Canberra’s first swing bridges! 

For anyone who prefers their walking to take place on a golf course, you have the Magpies Belconnen Golf Club just around the corner. And, for kids, fun comes at Ginninderry’s community recreation park, Paddy’s Park and the Jill Landsbert Terrace Recreational Park.

The Link is Ginninderry’s multi-purpose community facility, which features community gardens, art-displays, a children’s play-house and both a barbecue and tandoori oven. In keeping with the focus on sustainability, this building has large water tanks and solar capacity.

To help this newly developing community get to know each other, festivals and events (including the Ginninderry Inspire Festival and Kite Festival) have brought together residents of all ages to enjoy their new neighbourhood.

A local shopping centre is in the planning stages. Until then, Kippax Fair Shopping Centre is just five minutes away, including cafes, shops, a medical centre, pharmacy, supermarket and specialty stores. Just 10 minutes away is all the facilities of Belconnen. 

For special meals out, the Strathnairn Arts Complex offers pizza nights and don’t forget that Canberra is quickly gaining a reputation as a culinary destination so you’ll have access to the whole city’s eateries and restaurants.

What is the weather like in Strathnairn?

Like the rest of Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory, Strathnairn has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Spring brings ideal conditions for the flowers of Floriade with delightful days. Summer sees warmer temperatures, with average highs of around 27-29 degrees.
